What is a licensed clinical social worker?

A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) is fully licensed to practice independently as a clinical psychotherapist. LCSW's often treat mental health and emotional issues through clinical therapy, and diagnose mental illnesses when appropriate. Counseling services provided by LCSW's are covered under insurance plans.

What is unique about social work? Social work is a helping profession that studies people in their environment. It is a holistic approach to treating individuals based on how each person is impacted by their histories, families, support systems, social engagement, patterns and dynamics, and psychological well-being. It is a profession that values self-determination, empowerment, basic human rights and equality, as well as cultural diversity.

Hi, I'm Sheena! I am a licensed clinical social worker and clinical therapist. I received my master's degree from Baylor University in 2009, followed by a PsyD in clinical psychology from California Southern University. I have experience working with all ages and I have treated a number of different issues.

I enjoy the work that I do and truly feel grateful to be a part of each client's healing process. I love to witness and support positive change, no matter how big or how small.
